Iftaar at Dr. S.H - Ramadan Dairies 2015

Prior to this Iftaar evening, we were invited at a family friend's place where we met this very sweet couple, an uncle and aunty, both practising doctors in Durham (North East England). That is where we got their Iftaar invitation. Although we had met them a couple of times earlier as well, we didn't really know them that well. Small gatherings are so nice and lovely.
On a Saturday evening or perhaps night, we reached Dr. Sahab's place where we got to meet two other doctors and their wives too. We were the only young couple and I was feeling quite amused being called 'beta.' It was lovely talking to them and listening to their experiences back in the home country and in the UK.
Iftaar Time:
Soon after a warm-up chat, everyone sat to break their fast and enjoyed the yummy goodies on the Iftaar table that included dates, fresh green salad, creamy potato salad, chana & fruit chaat, samosas and pakoras and the very colourful fruit platter (mango cubes, cherries, watermelon slices, melon slices).

Dinner Time:
After Iftaar, everyone went for prayers and dinner was served soon after they returned. Dinner included lamb biryani, fried fish, bbq chicken boti, daal, aloo palak and naan. Next came the desserts that were Gurr k chawal (jaggery rice) , Kulfa & Pista icecreams.
The best part of the evening were the lovely conversations or 'kachairi' as referred by an uncle in the gathering, eating mango and kulfi ice-cream.

What do you enjoy the most at Iftaar get togethers? For me, food is definitely there and the that I can enjoy eating without working hard in the kitchen!
